Why is Colorado’s junior Senator against progress and production in America's energy industry?

SalazarUS. Gov't
That is the question we are left asking ourselves after reading this morning’s Denver Post, which featured a story about the development of oil shale in the Rocky Mountain West. Republicans nationwide are pushing for decreased reliance on foreign oil and advocating the advancement of offshore drilling and oil shale as key to the process. Yet, Colorado’s Democrat Sen. Ken Salazar is determined to extend the moratorium on drilling and stifle oil shale development that could greatly benefit America and the state’s economy.
Lawmakers are pointing the finger over $4-per-gallon gas, but the issue of lowering prices aside, the U.S. imports more than half its oil supply from hostile foreign countries. We are not naïve enough to believe that oil shale alone is going to solve the energy crisis, but it certainly can’t hurt the country or the economy to increase our supply. Last week, the Denver Post featured a column by Salazar, in which he demonstrated his lack of vision on the issue and argues against oil shale development.
Colorado needs a Senator who supports real solutions to decreasing our dependence on foreign oil. If this state elects Democrat Mark Udall to the Senate, he is going to bring us more of the same. Republican Bob Schaffer, on the other hand, has openly supported the advancement of oil shale production and offshore drilling.
Now is not the time to hesitate on taking advantage our domestic energy resources.

Oil shale.
On July 24th, 2008 Mountainlion says:
Rush Limbaugh played an interview with Salazar in which he stated that Chevron did not have the technology for oil shale. The Post said it was Exon and Shell that had run the tests and wanted to drill for in situ removal or crude form oil shale. This is quite sleasy to our elected official. Things like this case many people to loose respect for our government.
