5/6: Wrong priorities at the legislature

Topics:

Even though the legislative session comes to a close this week, lawmakers are still introducing bills – do we really need all this new law?

More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.

Democrat Sen. Bob Bacon is running a bill that would make it illegal to... well, let’s just say, touch yourself inappropriately in public. But wait, isn’t that illegal, already? Apparently Colorado's current law isn't good enough for him. Never mind that kind of lewd behavior is already covered under the State's definition of public indecency and indecent exposure.

Moreover, this is Bacon's 11th bill of the season – nearly double the amount lawmakers are normally allowed. Surely with less than a week left in session, the legislature has more important issues to debate.

Bacon's bill even includes a quote “safety clause,” which deems the law necessary for the quote “immediate preservation of the public peace." Am I missing something, or are our priorities a little out of place on this one?
