A liberal lawyer who targets Republicans is licking her wounds after a big loss. But that won’t stop the lawsuit mill at Colorado Ethics Watch.
More on that in a moment on the Face The State Radio Minute.
Chantell Taylor, director of Colorado Ethics Watch, a liberal activist group, makes a living suing GOP-aligned groups for alleged campaign finance infractions. Well OK, that’s my characterization. Taylor will tell you her outfit is all about clean government. You’re free to decide for yourself.
But consider the latest losses for Ethics Watch in the courts, where a judge tossed two of Taylor’s complaints. Two 527 committees ran advertising in the ’08 election that simply pointed out certain public figures were running for office, but they stopped short of urging a vote for or against them. That’s clearly protected under existing law.
But that doesn’t stop Taylor from suing them. Nor will it in the future. Her lawsuits are designed to waste money, not to bring about justice.
