Ritter opposes A.48, arrests protestor all at once

October 7, 2008

"Democrat Governor Bill Ritter held a rally today detailing his opposition to Amendment 48. The Rocky Mountain News reports that Governor Bill Ritter had a man arrested for protesting the "Personhood" amendment. While Governor Bill Ritter and I are in agreement with regards to Amendment 48, the arrest of the heckler on government property for illegal assembly is a troubling development. I am no fan of boorish behavior, but this protestor should not be arrested merely for expressing his opinion. "

Ritter gets a sweet deal on his house

October 5, 2008

"A signed lease between the governor and Craig Hospital Foundation pays him $2,500 a month until December 2010 for his house, plus a $5,000 damage deposit. The lease becomes renewable annually if Ritter wins a second term.

As of right now there is no indication of any serious conflict of interest (i.e. no legislation that Ritter has supported that directly benefits this hospital). The problem is that the hospital is paying more than twice the amount they would pay for houses closer to the hospital in the not quite as nice neighborhoods immediately surrounding the hospital."
