Plastic bag - stock

After Democrats have said yes to nearly every nannyist piece of legislation introduced this session, it was refreshing to see a handful of them standing in opposition to a bill that would prohibit grocery stores and big box retailers from distributing plastic bags.

Hormonal high schoolers take to the streets in the name of politics

February 12, 2009

Oh, to be 16 again.

From a very young age, our parents and teachers and Disney movies tell us that one person truly can make a difference. While we agree with this sentiment and believe it should continue to be promoted, we can’t help but wonder: when did experience stop mattering? Seriously, when?

Could the plastic bag ban actually hurt the environment?

January 28, 2009

"So a bunch of Denver prep school students are asking state legislators to pass a bill banning plastic bags in Colorado. Good for them! January 15, 2009

In coming weeks, a duo of state legislators, including Sen. Jennifer Veiga, D-Denver, and Rep. Buffie McFadyen, D-Pueblo, will introduce a bill to eliminate 3.2 beer sales, meaning all local grocery and convenience stores with 3.2 beer licenses will see them converted to allow full-strength sales. Grocery and convenience stores lobbying for the bill are labeling it a free market measure, but some Republicans are claiming the free market doesn't apply in this case.

And whether we want to admit it or not, it was a truly historic landslide. From young to old, black to white, it seems EVERYONE went into that voting booth unified and ready to anoint the Chosen One.
