Marilyn Musgrave plans her revenge

March 13, 2009

"Marilyn Musgrave, the Republican who was ousted from her congressional seat in Northern Colorado, has found a new job/revenge role: directing a project that aims to knock pro-choice Dems out of Congress. Musgrave plans to “use every form of media to defeat these people who are pro-abortion,” reports Reuters."

Musgrave concedes. Sort of

December 3, 2008

"In blogs such as November 7's "When is Marilyn Musgrave Going to Concede Defeat to Betsy Markey?" and November 25's "Marilyn Musgrave's Epic Pout Continues," I've expressed amazement and awe over outgoing Congresswoman Musgrave's steadfast refusal to publicly acknowledge defeat in last month's election. Unfortunately, though, she's finally done so, albeit to a very limited audience located far from home.

Marilyn Musgrave: this has gone on entirely too long

November 25, 2008

"I admit it: At first I thought Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave (right) was being childish when she kept mum after losing in the election earlier this month -- the topic of the November 7 blog "When Is Marilyn Musgrave Going to Concede Defeat to Betsy Markey?." But with each passing week, I'm feeling more and more impressed. There must be tremendous pressure on her to act like a mature human being, and yet she's standing her ground. That's a rare quality in a politician, even if it's being demonstrated in the most passive-aggressive way imaginable."

Rock-paper-scissors to resolve potential 4th CD primary?

November 17, 2008

Betsy Markey - file

A weekend Associated Press report naming potential candidates for Colorado's 4th Congressional District in 2010 missed at least two top contenders. The seat, now in play after Democrat Betsy Markey knocked off incumbent Republican Marilyn Musgrave this month, had previously been in GOP hands for nearly four decades.

Will Musgrave concede to Markey?

November 7, 2008

"A day or so after Tuesday's election, I was talking with a co-worker about fallout from the vote when she mentioned that she hadn't seen any snippets from Marilyn Musgrave's concession speech, and I realized that I hadn't, either. Even so, it didn't seem possible to me that Musgrave had skipped making such remarks. Her 4th Congressional District race against Betsy Markey had been exceedingly vicious, but it's an American tradition to at least try to be classy and gracious in defeat.

Musgrave and Salazar: no longer BFF's

October 16, 2008

"Democratic Senator Ken Salazar will never be confused with a charismatic wordsmith. But his blunt way of speaking proved hugely entertaining yesterday, when, during a conference call, he went off on Republican Marilyn Musgrave and her most recent attack ad against opposing Dem Betsy Markey. Salazar called Musgrave "an agent of hate" and claimed that the commercial was "so absolutely over the top that it should make the people of the 4th Congressional District throw up.""
