"More pictures from the Republican National Convention, as Sen. John McCain's Vice Presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin gave her acceptance speech and a wonderful succession of GOP speakers--Michael Steele, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Linda Lingle, and finally Rudy Giuliani--helped build the adequate emotional charge with speeches that were quite powerful, and included great rhetorical gems like Steele's "Drill, baby, drill!" that were repeated throughout the night."

"Hurricane Gustav may have dampened the opening day celebrations at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, but that didn't keep three local ladies from attracting hordes of media attention. From the moment they entered the Xcel Center, Keri Brehm, Crista Huff and Charcie Russell were the center of attention. The three wore white T-shirts which proclaimed in large red letters, "Moms Trust McCain," one word on each shirt. On the backs of each were pinned a paper sign proclaiming, We Love Sarah."

"You know those days when you're incredibly proud to be an American? Today was also one of those days. I know that politicians are known for platitudes and empty rhetoric (and that's both sides of the aisle), but we knew going into the Xcel Energy Center today that this would be different. The balloons are still held snugly in the rafters in anticipation of a party. But tonight, there was no party."

"All the real anarchists and rioters were in St. Paul, getting ready for the RNC, instead of embarrassing their not-radical/violent/crazy-enough would-be friends in the Democratic Party here.

"Tomorrow morning I leave for Minneapolis, MN to attend my first (and I hope not my last) GOP nominating convention. Over the next five days I will post pictures, thoughts and anything else that I think seems interesting to give those at home a sense of what's happening at the convention."
