"Who'da thunk that liberal Democratic congressman-elect Jared Polis could make conservative Rocky Mountain News editorial page editor Vince Carroll gush as he does in today's column "Polis Off to Great Start"? Apparently only Carroll himself, he writes, "More than a year ago, I suggested that Polis would prove to be a far more independent member of Congress than the Democratic front-runner at the time, former state Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald. But I hardly expected him to prove it before he'd even taken the oath of office.""

Carroll gets it right with his mockery of "puffer" law

"Carroll laments how our laws treat citizens like children. Specifically, he mocks Colorado's law that makes it an offense to warm up your car before you get in it.

The official reason for the law is that your car might get stolen if you leave it unattended and running. What a load of crap.

First, so what? It's a person's individual decision on how to use his car and how much risk he might be willing to take.

The Messiah insulted a Native American tribe, Rocky Mountain News reporters got pimp slapped by their own editor, and Joan Fitz-Gerald has decided that losing the primary campaign may be a pretty good reason to close campaign headquarters.
